As you navigate your companion animal’s senior years and/or end-of-life journey, please know that you are already providing them with incredible, loving care. At the same time, it is okay if you feel you need some additional support. End-of-life and bereavement are often two of the most difficult parts of being an animal guardian, and you deserve the support that you need. End-of-Life & Grief Support Sessions are tailored to you and your animal’s unique needs, and can include any of the following offerings:
- Quality of life assessments
- Home assessments with suggestions for creating/maintaining a comfortable environment for your animal
- End-of-life planning, including advance directives and support if planning a euthanasia
- Information about the death and dying process, including what to expect during a euthanasia procedure
- Referrals to veterinarians, animal hospice & palliative care organizations, therapists, support groups, and other resources
- Guidance in preparing for veterinary appointments
- Assistance in researching and understanding information and treatment plans provided by your and your animal’s veterinary care team
- Emotional support around caregiving and end-of-life care
- Grief support that holds space for anticipatory grief as well as bereavement
- Inspiration and guidance for memorials and legacy projects
In addition to end-of-life doula services, I also work with people experiencing other forms of pet loss, including: rehoming an animal, surrendering an animal to a shelter or rescue, grieving a lost or stolen animal, saying goodbye to foster animals, and retiring a service animal. I can also provide support during other major health events that your animal may experience, such as surgery and recovery, or adjusting to a new disability or chronic illness diagnosis.

Community and accessibility are important, so a number of sliding scale spots are reserved each month should cost be a barrier. Please contact me for sliding scale availability. Unfamiliar with sliding scale? Learn more here.
Don’t see an available time that works with your schedule? Please contact me—I do try to accommodate the unpredictable nature of end-of-life and the death and dying process. I can also provide referrals to other companion animal end-of-life doulas if I am unable to accommodate scheduling needs.
Disclaimer: Companion animal end-of-life doulas offer non-medical emotional and informational support. I am not a veterinarian, therapist, or emergency service. If you or your animal are experiencing an emergency, please reach out to appropriate emergency services.
